First Street Center Project in Ft Myers Florida
Below is a project I did in Florida
Jan. 2008 • First Street Center Project in Ft Myers
Florida: Removed a 37,000 square foot 4"
Precast Gypsum deck "Had to cut out 3'x 3'
section at a time all by hand very hard ", raised I-
beam structure elevation by 2'~9". Erected a new
bar joist system on the newly raised I-beam frame.
Installed 37,000 square foot of 18G 24' by 3'
corrugated metal " very heavy "decking over bar
joist. This was an especially hard project; the 2nd
floor had window every 2' from the floor to the
elevation of old ceiling. I covered the windows with
plywood but still managed to break 2 out of 200+
windows also the building was located in downtown Ft
Myers with overhead power lines on 3 sides of the
building There was no access for a crane; all
structural steel erection was done using a manual
hand lift genie and 18 very skilled men.
